Rupert Davis
Standing on a train platform in England, 2004, I had the strongest intuition to buy a camera, so I bought a disposable camera and just about made it onto my train…
Since then my photography has continued to be an intuitive and naturally evolving expression. It is the depth and feeling of ‘my subject’ that calls me to get the camera out, rather than simply seeing a beautiful scene or person and recording it.
I am often in a state of wonder, surrendered to whatever is unfolding around me, allowing it to fill the camera. The result is an experience not just an image.
I travel to some amazing places, but many of the images here are taken in my backyard, the road I live on, the park around the corner. Beauty and mystery really are everywhere…

“Davis has a gift for quietly and humbly perceiving the beauty in his environment, the sheen of water or sunlight cascading through forest canopy; the world has opened her arms to him.”
