'Letting the moment speak for itself...'

Welcome to the New Earth Photography Collection.

Rupert's award-winning photographic work is exhibited and collected internationally.

Standing on a train platform in England, 2004, I had the strongest sense to buy a camera, so I bought a disposable camera and just about made it onto my train… Since then my photography has continued to be an intuitive and naturally evolving expression.  I've always had a passion for travel and for exploring my surroundings, both familiar and new ones.  The photography and travel have gone hand-in-hand, leading me into adventures such as trekking through the Altai mountains in Siberia, living with local families in the Peruvian Andes, hiking in Yosemite and staying with the aboriginal community that lives next to Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Australia.  I travel to some amazing places, but many of the pictures are taken in my backyard, the road I live on, the park around the corner.

My thing is beauty, and the soul within everything.  I love to capture what feels like the essence of something, that which gives it life, uniqueness, and it’s own beauty, whether it is a tree, a building or a person.  By showing us that there is beauty and soul in the things around us - whether that is in falling snow or city lights - the pictures provide a reflection of the same beauty and soul within us.

It is the depth and feeling of my subject that calls me to get the camera out, rather than simply seeing an interesting scene or person and recording it.  I always say that it's my soul that takes the pictures, and that my skill lies in allowing this to happen, and not getting in the way.  This also means little or no post-capture production work on the pictures, unlike most photographic images.  So I call them natural, and I have observed that they are more like experiences than just images.  Letting the moment express itself gives a great aliveness to the result.

I also undertake portrait and corporate commissions, and enjoy teaching photography and creativity, leading people to discover and express their own creative potential.

"Whatever the setting, Rupert finds the beauty in it. His detailed views of the world are a holistic, rich palette of colors; they take in all of nature as well as the manmade world—the sky, ground, and everything in between."
